General objective

To improve the quality of education and the well-being of pupils at Vysookopil Secondary School in Ukraine.

Specific objective

To ensure a safe, functional and technologically advanced learning environment for pupils and staff at Vysookopil School, by supporting educational continuity and the physical and mental wellbeing of the school community in a context of emergency and reconstruction.

Expected results

Vysookopil School is transformed into a well-equipped educational institution, offering enhanced quality of learning, improved well-being through comfortable and safe spaces (including in emergencies), and a reliable and hygienic catering system for all pupils and staff.

About the project

The Kherson Oblast in Ukraine is one of the regions most severely affected by the ongoing conflict. During a recent mission, the Helpcode team had the opportunity to meet with local authorities, thereby gaining a direct understanding of the region’s needs and priorities, particularly regarding the education sector.

Vysookopil School, a vital secondary school for the community, urgently needs to adapt its spaces and resources to provide a safe, stimulating and modern learning environment capable of supporting both face-to-face teaching (where possible and safe to do so) and distance learning.

The project involves the purchase and installation of essential furniture for classrooms and communal areas.

There will also be a significant upgrade to the technological infrastructure to support hybrid teaching (in-person and distance learning), promote innovative teaching methods and ensure continuity of operations in the event of power cuts.

Our intervention will also improve catering and hygiene services through the acquisition of a complete fire safety system, hand dryers, the installation of an autonomous drinking water supply system, electric kettles, a refrigerated display cabinet and 10-litre thermos flasks.

Beneficiaries

Around 190 students and 15 teachers will benefit directly from the project.
