About the project

Cambodia is one of the countries most affected by drowning, with a mortality rate of 7.6 per 100,000 people, twice the regional average. The most vulnerable are children aged 4 to 14 (WHO, 2021).

Helpcode is on the frontlines to stop this crisis in Kampot, Kep, Phnom Penh, and Sihanoukville, equipping young people and communities with water safety skills, CPR, and survival swimming in collaboration with the Khmer Swimming Federation. We engage communities through local focal points, informative materials, and risk mapping.

Our online awareness campaign with Education Broadcasting Cambodia ensures free access to educational content. We also work at the institutional level to support Cambodia’s first national drowning prevention policy, so that every child can be safe.
